Kayaks for our birthdays

We bought ourselves some lovely kayaks so that we can paddle around Lamma. It involved a long trip up to the Gold Coast in the New Territories and an hour in a showroom choosing a model - we hit on this one - the Apollo from Feelfree Kayaks (a Kiwi company). We will leave them on the beach (locked up) and use them to try and get around the island. There's also a beach that you can only get to by boat so we'll camp there. The kayaks have got a rudder and foot pedals for steering, some dry storage and are open so you can swim easily. We're excited.

We've got bikes

Our Koga Miyata bikes arrived from Holland via the UK with super special handlebars to allow us to move our hands around, plus front and rear panniers. They're just the most gorgeous bikes ever, completely designed for long distance touring. We intend to cycle from HK back to the UK some time in the future and we need to get a bit of experience first (only a bit)

We have cycled around Lamma quite a bit and know a bit about basic maintenance, we have spare spokes and other tools but it's proving very difficult to get anything useful in HK as no-one cycles anywhere. Simon's is last year's model and appreciably cheaper
