The Big Buddha

On Lantau, just below Lantau peak, there's a huge Buddha sat on the hill which you can see from the aeroplane as you land at the airport.

It's in the middle of the screen on the ridge in the distance.

Here's some photos from last year on a quieter day. They've now built a cable car up to the Buddha which means that it rarely gets this quiet anymore.

Tung Chung Fountain

At the end of every AYP walk on Lantau we end up in Tung Chung near the airport, waiting for the kids near a superb fountain in the square outside the MTR.

There are about 50 fountains that come up from the floor in sequence and look really good. The kids always end up soaking wet until the ridiculous 'HK Safety Police' announce over the tannoy that the area is too dangerous (and that they're having too much fun) and switch off the fountains. Some of the following photos are from our first visit two years ago.

AYP expedition - Lantau

We had a great walk on Lantau with the 50 students completing their equivalent of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
