Science Museum

The year 8's went to the Science Museum in Kowloon last week.

Here's some photos of a rather puzzling room:

Philippa and Penelope are tall - but not that tall. The room has a sloping floor and plays with lines of perspective to make your brain see the children in the corner as though they are far away. The tiles aren't really square, the window is small and high. In the photo on the left the 'far' children are actually only about 2m away from the pupil in the foreground.

I also managed to video the kids falling over while trying to touch their nose on a button. Boys generally have a higher centre of gravity (muscles and brain) so normally tip over. Aged 12/13 they're still not quite different enough for this to be completely true. None of them are permanently damaged, Callum from our Kenya trip is one of the ones who falls over. I teach most of the ones on the film - they're from all over the place.
